About Me

About me

unnamed-3.jpg

Hi, my name is Madonna Davis. I hold active teacher certifications in Illinois, Nevada, and Florida. I have experience teaching students from preschool through 8th grade. Although I have taught many subjects, my specialty is technology. I am a 'techy' teacher and like to call my technology students, "Tech Warriors" because "Today's Tech Warriors become tomorrow's tech leaders!"

I also provide genealogy research services for adults.  I am an award winning researcher having won a Telly Award, the Illinois State Historical Society Award of Superior Achievement, and an Emmy Award nominee in the Midwest region for the documentary “Legend Seekers; The Lively Family Massacre which was shown on PBS stations around the country in 2009 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tNx2C5KUTdE&t=25s). I have been researching genealogy for 20 years both personally and professionally; working for The Newberry Library in Chicago, Naper Settlement in Naperville, IL and The Polk County History Center in Bartow, Florida I have personal subscriptions to Ancestry.com World Explorer, Fold 3, Newspapers.com and Roots Ireland, plus I have extensive experience working with many other Internet resources.

I have a Bachelor's degree from Western Illinois University, a Master's of Education in Instructional Technology from Northern Illinois University and a Master's of Library and Information Science from The University of Illinois @Urbana/Champaign.

I was widowed at a young age and raised my two daughters on my own. Both graduated from Big 10 universities, are grown now and live on the West Coast. In my spare time I am writing a screenplay, research genealogy, hike, travel, and I love movies.
